Injuries

Yesterday, I injured one of my knees while I was at the gym. It reminded me of one of my funny stories from back in the day. Story time! So, when I was pursuing my bachelor's, during my second year, we went to another college to watch a play. The college was pretty far from mine, so we hired a travelling agency to take us there. So naturally, we went there by bus. It was quite a good trip, although the play was not all that good. Now here comes the fun part. I was a natural born monkey and I have been doing monkey business ever since I was a kid. For example, climbing trees, jumping around balconies, walking on top of the compound walls, you name it. So when I saw one of the buses having ladders to climb on top of it, my first instinct was to climb them. My friends warned me not to do it, but my intrusive thoughts got the better of me. Hence, I climbed and people were watching me like I was an actual monkey doing funny tricks. Don't worry, I didn't get hurt by falling from there. The funny part is yet to come.
So after I was done monkeying around, I climbed down and hung out with my seniors and friends. Here comes the fun part. One of the seniors said that he wished it would be fun if I carried him and ran. I didn't hesitate one bit and I let him piggyback onto my back. My next thought was to hold him tight and run across my friends. At least, that's what I thought in my mind. It looked cool in my head, but flash news, it didn't work out pretty well. I carried someone who was at least 20kgs heavier than me and tried to run with him on my back. And soon enough, with no surprise, as I was running, my leg bent the other direction it was supposed to bend and I very distinctly heard a crack in my knee. The poor guy who was piggybacking behind me flew over my head and God knows what happened to that guy (He was fine). But I remember experiencing excruciating pain that day. I just lay there in pain and my knee was throbbing. I couldn't move my leg. I very well knew I had to travel back home to rejuvenate myself to good health as soon as I heard that crack.
After some X-rays and a few doctor visits, they concluded that I had a slight fracture in my knee and a torn ligament. The doctor prescribed medicines and bed rest for at least 2 months, I think. But not all of it was bad news. Right as I was getting anxious about me not maintaining enough attendance for the semester, the 2020 pandemic hit. I got an early ticket back home before I got stuck anywhere in the town where I was studying. So, I just thought that that single act of stupidity got me an early ticket back home and I will forever be grateful for it. Did I receive a fracture that is still bothering me? Yes. Would I do it again? Probably (or not). Was it worth it? Maybe not. Was it fun? Hell yeah!
